Stitches:Bargello, Double v cross, Eyelet variations, Half Rhodes Woven, Knotted Diamond, Lace wheel, One over one, Padded buttonhole, Renaissance herringbone, Renaissance stitch, Rhodes, Ukrainian Drawn thread and needleweaving.

Verse: Mistress Winter, gowned in pearls of snow and sun-gold jewels.


I said I would never “do” a snowman....well, Winter Jewels begged for a tiny fellow to be balanced on the bargello snow. His buddies are almost ready, sitting patiently as snow balls on the four sleds. Opposite him, and tucked under the ground for a cozy nap, you will find a tiny, pink-eared mouse.

The outer border of this sampler is a unique drawn thread technique I found in a book of Ukrainian embroidery. Done entirely in hand, without hoop or stretcher bars, the wrapped linen bars sit perfectly straight.
