I designed this sampler in the English tradition after I returned from a trip to the UK where I was fortunate enough to shake hands with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles, whose eyes are the most penetrating light blue. The design elements and stitch techniques are typical of those found in antique English and Scottish samplers.


Incidentally, the pansy at the top of the sampler is worked entirely in Queen stitch!
