Comment:
When I began to research Ukrainian embroidery, I discovered something I was not expecting -- the bold colors, intricate weavings, and individual stitch techniques are not just designs on fabric, they are an expression of a philosophy of life.
With that in mind, I designed this piece as symbolic of a young girl\'s emergence into womanhood. The instructions include explanations for the symbols as well as for the Ukrainian words.
Though I include instructions for finishing the piece as a folding pocket, it would make a lovely framed sampler, as well - remember to invert the top band if you are going to frame the piece.
Contents: Linen, Anchor Floss, Gold-plated Needle
