Burying Thread Ends
Burying thread ends is not much of an issue if you are working cross-stitch over2.
The problem arises as soon as you venture into other techniques where there may be more thread in the front of your linen than on the back.
This is what I do for beginning and ending threads:
On the back of my work I find several stitches close by which will act as foundation threads. I work several buttonhole stitches - firm and packed -
on at least 2 stitches, then overcast a short distance. Now when I snip the thread, I know the stitching on the front will not pull out or sag over time.
Bulk is not an issue because the packed buttonhole stitches flatten themselves out and blend with the other work on the back.
